The aftermath of the late-night strike on Kostiantynivka
No Russian missiles or drones were detected in Ukraine's airspace during the first eight hours of May 8, the AFU Air Force reported. On April 28, Vladimir Putin unilaterally declared a ceasefire from 00:00 on May 8 to 00:00 on May 11. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, late at night on May 7 the Russian Armed Forces dropped several aerial bombs on a low-rise residential area in the Sumy Region, and just an hour before midnight, a Russian bomb hit an apartment building in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk Region.
The AFU Air Force noted in its morning summary that no drones or missiles were detected in the skies over Ukraine on the night of May 8. However, in the north of the country, Russian jets launched guided bombs at the Sumy Region. As the State Emergency Service reports, the strike targeted Bilopolye. One house was fully destroyed, and a woman was pulled out of the rubble.
In Sumy, the late-night strike set fire to three residential buildings and killed one civilian.
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office reports that the Russian Armed Forces dropped a FAB-250 bomb with a UMPK guidance kit on Kostiantynivka at 22:50 on May 7. Twelve people were injured. One woman remains buried under the rubble.
Last month, Moscow unilaterally announced the cessation of hostilities on Easter, from 6:00 p.m. on April 19 to 00:00 on April 21. However, as Volodymyr Zelensky reported, the Russian Armed Forces continued their attacks on individual sections of the front during the Easter ceasefire.
Citing a source in the AFU, Reuters writes that on May 8 Russian troops continued to carry out attacks on several sections of the front, without specifying which ones.
